Pune: Father Arrested for Brutal Murder of Daughter In Wagholi

Wagholi, 3rd January 2024: Fakira Gunda Dupargude has been arrested by Pune Police within just three hours of brutally killing his daughter, Akshada Dupargude, who was studying in the 10th standard.

The horrifying crime took place around 11.30 am at his house behind the primary health centre in Wagholi, under the jurisdiction of the Lonikand Police Station.

A case has been registered under IPC Section 302 (murder) and Arms Act 4(27) against the accused, who fled the crime scene after stabbing his daughter with a sharp weapon.

Upon receiving information about the crime, officials of Crime Branch Unit-6 conducted parallel investigations, leading them to the whereabouts of the accused Dupargude. The accused was traced to a parking lot in Hadapsar, Pune, apparently preparing to board a bus to Solapur. Attempting to evade arrest, the suspect tried to flee, but the police squad chased and nabbed him.

According to a police press release, the accused revealed that constant quarrels with his wife and son about his unemployment and drinking habits led to a fatal argument with his daughter, Akshada. The murder took place when his wife and son were not present in the house.

For further proceedings related to the crime, he has been handed over to the Lonikand Police Station.

The accused was arrested by team led by Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam of Crime Branch Unit 6.
