Pune: FDA Assistant Commissioner Arrested For Accepting Bribe

Pune, 20th September 2023: Saheb Eknathrao Desai, the Assistant Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Pune, has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. A case has been registered against him at Chaturshringi police station.
The arrest was made after a 54-year-old person lodged a complaint with the Pune unit of the ACB.
The complainant had applied for a license to sell lactose through his company, and Assistant Commissioner Desai allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 in exchange for the license. After he lodged a complaint, ACB sleuths laid a trap and caught Desai red-handed when he accepted the bribe at the FDA office in Aundh.
The arrest was made under the guidance of ACB’s Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and Additional Superintendent Suraj Gurav. Police Inspector Bharat Salunkhe is further investigating the case.
