Pune: Two Men Arrested For Kidnapping Woman After ‘Break Up’
Swargate, 20th February 2023: Pune police have arrested two men in connection with the kidnapping of a 22-year-old woman. The victim had broken off a relationship with Somnath Sool, who had been pursuing her for marriage despite her refusal. Sool, along with Ganesh Mahanwar, forcefully took her from Swargate and drove her around for two days to Wagholi, Jejuri, and Sadashiv Peth.
During this time, she was physically assaulted and threatened with harm to her family if she did not agree to marry Sool. She managed to escape from her captors and report the incident to the Swargate police, who have registered a case of kidnapping.
The accused have been charged under Section 365 (kidnapping or abduction with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine a person) of the Indian Penal Code. They were produced in court and remanded in police custody.
