Fergusson College Ranks First in Maharashtra in NIRF Rankings

Pune, 15th September 2025: Deccan Education Society’s (DES) Fergusson College has secured the top position among colleges in Maharashtra in the prestigious National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings. To celebrate this achievement, the college hosted a vibrant felicitation event on campus today.

According to DES President Pramod Rawat, “Since 2016, Fergusson College has consistently maintained its position as the leading college in the state. This year, the institution not only retained its rank but also improved its score from 56.77% last year to 58.35%. At the national level, Fergusson secured the 57th rank in the college category.”

The NIRF rankings are determined based on five key parameters:
Teaching, Learning and Resources
Research and Professional Practice
Graduation Outcomes
Outreach and Inclusivity
Perception.

Rawat emphasized the college’s commitment to further improving its standing by focusing on quality research and publications, enhancing placement opportunities in the arts stream alongside science, and improving graduate outcomes. He also highlighted the need for government approval to fill permanent faculty positions, which would bolster the institution’s efforts.

The celebration featured flower decorations across departments, a procession through the campus, and participation by students and faculty in traditional attire. The event was enlivened by performances from the Ramanbaug Dhol-Tasha troupe.

During this event, DES Vice President Adv. Ashok Palande, Director Milind Kamble, Principal Dr. Shyam Mude, Vice Principal Prof. Swati Joglekar, Dr. Vinay Acharya, and Prof. Prajakta Pradhan were present.

This accomplishment reflects Fergusson College’s sustained excellence in education, research, and social contribution, reinforcing its reputation as a premier institution in Maharashtra.
