Pune: Financial Dispute Escalates To Brutal Murder In Moshi; Five Detained, Further Investigation Underway
Moshi, 17th May 2025 — A young man was brutally murdered in Moshi in the early hours of Saturday (17th May) following a financial dispute. The incident, which occurred around 3 am in front of Grand Hotel, was captured on CCTV cameras, leading to the swift arrest of five suspects.
The victim has been identified as Dnyaneshwar Barge, who was fatally attacked with sharp weapons. Police have arrested Ashok Mhalaskar, Rohan Mhalaskar, Prasad Mhalaskar, Amol Nile, and Sanket Jaid in connection with the murder.
According to police reports, the conflict stemmed from a financial dispute involving Ashok Mhalaskar. Dnyaneshwar had been persistently demanding repayment of money owed to his relative by Ashok. On Friday (16th May) night, while consuming alcohol together, a heated argument broke out over the money, during which Dnyaneshwar allegedly slapped Ashok.
Enraged by the insult, Ashok contacted his brothers and other associates, who then confronted Dnyaneshwar outside the hotel. In the early hours of Saturday, the group attacked Dnyaneshwar with Koyta, inflicting multiple fatal injuries. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The entire assault was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, aiding police in identifying and apprehending the accused. Police officials have seized weapons and other evidence from the crime scene. Police are continuing the further investigation.
