Hinjawadi, 30th March 2022: Pimpri Chinchwad Police have booked a man for allegedly calling a police officer trying to pressure him to weaken the case against Amit Devram Kalate by using the name of Parth Pawar, son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Based on the complaint from Police Sub-Inspector Nakul Nyamane, the Hinjawadi police station has registered an FIR against one Ashraf Merchant on March 28.

According to the police, PSI Nyamne is investigating a cheating case registered against Kalate. On March 22 when he was on leave, he had received a call from a man identifying himself as Ashraf Merchant.

“Are you investigating the case of Amit Kalate? What is your stand on it? I am a friend of Parth Pawar. I am also a close friend of Amit Kalate, Parth Pawar and PA Sagar Jagtap. Just do as I say. We can meet in person also if required. Dismiss Amit’s case using false evidence, otherwise, there will be terrible consequences and it will go to higher levels”, Merchant allegedly told the police officer.

Police said that Ashraf has many cases registered against him and he is an accomplice of Sagar Suryavanshi in some cases.
