Pune: Fire at Power Gold Gym in Kalyani Nagar Brought Under Control Within 20 Minutes; No Injuries
Kalyani Nagar, 3rd August 2026: A fire broke out at Power Gold Gym in Kalyani Nagar early Monday morning, prompting a swift response from the Pune Fire Brigade. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within around 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
According to the Pune Fire Brigade, the control room received an alert about the fire at 5:51 am, following which fire engines from the Yerawada and Naidu Fire Stations were immediately dispatched to the spot.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the fire had erupted on the second floor of a three-storey building, where the gym is located. Thick smoke had engulfed the premises, making firefighting operations challenging.
Fire personnel began dousing the flames with water while wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA) sets to safely enter the smoke-filled gym and ensure that no one was trapped inside. They also broke the glass windows to ventilate the building and allow the smoke to escape. As the smoke remained dense, an exhaust blower was deployed to improve ventilation.
The fire was brought under control within approximately 20 minutes. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The blaze damaged the gym’s air-conditioning units, electrical wiring, POP (Plaster of Paris) ceiling, and other interior materials.
The operation was carried out by drivers Dheeraj Sonawane, Chetan Dhume, Anup Sabale, and Omkar Tathe, along with firefighters Vishnu Jadhav, Bhushan Sonawane, Shantanu Kokane, Hrishikesh Pawar, Chhagan More, Shriram Karad, Pranav Kamble, Raouf Shaikh, Hiraman More, Jayesh Gatade, and Bhalchandra Gawhankar.
