Pune: Keshav Nagar Residents Hold Silent Protest, Demand Immediate Action on Roads, Traffic and Water Supply

Keshav Nagar, 2nd August 2026: Residents of Keshav Nagar on Sunday staged a silent protest demanding urgent action on long-pending infrastructure issues, saying years of civic neglect have severely affected the quality of life in the rapidly developing locality.

People from several housing societies participated in the peaceful demonstration, carrying banners and placards to highlight issues including traffic congestion, poor road conditions, inadequate water supply, drainage problems and delayed infrastructure projects.

The residents urged the authorities to immediately address traffic bottlenecks at Lonkar Chowk and the Y-Junction, open the Keshav Nagar–New Kharadi bridge, and expedite the Amanora–Keshav Nagar underpass project to improve connectivity.

They also sought widening and repair of roads, development of DP roads, construction of footpaths, and strengthening of the stormwater drainage network. Other key demands included an adequate supply of potable water, a permanent solution to waterlogging and sanitation issues, removal of illegal encroachments, strict action against wrong-side driving, and improved pedestrian safety.

The protesters further called on the authorities to announce a time-bound action plan for the completion of all pending infrastructure projects, with transparent monitoring of their progress.

Speaking during the protest, resident Suhas Jadhav said, “A strong and well-planned Keshav Nagar will benefit thousands of families. We urge the authorities to prioritize these long-pending infrastructure demands without further delay.”

Amit Khandelwal said residents were exhausted by daily traffic congestion and unfulfilled assurances. “Basic infrastructure is our right, not a privilege, and the authorities must wake up to the daily struggles of thousands of commuters and families here,” he said.

Pankaj Pawar alleged that poor roads and neglected civic facilities had made daily life increasingly difficult for residents and urged the administration to fulfil commitments made years ago.

Vikas Singh said rapid development in the area had outpaced civic planning, adding that urgent intervention was needed to improve roads, water supply and traffic management.

Chaitanya Sharma claimed that residents had been raising these concerns for the past four years but had received little response from the authorities. He alleged that people continue to face severe inconvenience due to poor roads, water shortages and inadequate civic infrastructure.

The residents said the peaceful protest marked the beginning of a sustained campaign and that they would continue pursuing their demands until the pending infrastructure issues in Keshav Nagar are resolved.
