Pune: Fire Breaks Out at Mandap Material Godown in Kothrud, Promptly Controlled by Firefighters

Kothrud, 3rd April 2024: A fire erupted at a mandap material godown in Kothrud on Wednesday afternoon, triggering a swift response from firefighters who managed to bring the blaze under control within 15-20 minutes. The godown, situated near the Tuljabhavani temple on Paud road, was engulfed in flames around 12 noon.

The godown housed various materials used for mandap decorations, including bamboo, cloth, and decorative items. As the fire intensified, the decoration materials caught fire, escalating the situation. Prompt action was taken, and the incident was swiftly reported to the Kothrud station of the fire brigade.

Responding to the emergency, five fire engines and tankers were dispatched from the Kothrud and Erandwane fire brigade stations to the scene. Under the leadership of center head Rajesh Jagtap, firefighters tackled the blaze using water, managing to bring it under control within a span of fifteen to twenty minutes.

Officials from the fire department confirmed that while the fire resulted in the burning of decorative materials, the exact cause of the blaze remains undetermined at this time. Investigations into the incident are ongoing as authorities work to ascertain the circumstances leading to the fire outbreak.
