Pune: Fire Breaks Out at Moshi Garbage Depot in Pimpri Chinchwad

Moshi, 4th March 2025: A fire erupted at the garbage depot in Moshi, Pimpri Chinchwad, this afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) Fire Brigade. The incident, reported around 4:30 PM, saw a fire vehicle dispatched from the Chikhali Fire Station to tackle the blaze.
Moshi Fire Station Officer Vinayak Nale, speaking to Punekar News, stated that while the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, the situation is being handled with urgency. “The fire isn’t large and is confined to the exterior of the garbage depot. However, given the nature of the materials involved, we’re treating it as unpredictable and prioritizing our efforts to extinguish it,” Nale explained.
The presence of various materials in the garbage, including plastic and rubber, has resulted in dense smoke due to high carbon emissions. This factor has added complexity to the firefighting efforts.
Officer Nale assured that there have been no injuries or casualties reported thus far. He also mentioned that an investigation would be conducted to determine the precise origin of the fire.
