Pune: Fire Brigade Controls Blaze at Fursungi Garbage Depot

Fursungi, 3rd April 2023: A fire broke out at the garbage depot in Fursungi, resulting in the generation of a large amount of smoke. The cause of the fire remains unknown, however, garbage stored in a patra shed at the depot caught fire.

The fire brigade from Hadapsar fire station quickly arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control using water. The garbage contained plastic bags which made the situation worse. According to Sachin Chavan, the health officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), incidents like these are common in summer due to the heat generated by the accumulated waste.

This is not the first incident of fire at the Fursungi garbage depot. The garbage is still smoldering after the fire was brought under control, and it may take up to two days to fully contain the fire due to the flammable materials in the garbage. As a result of previous fire incidents, water tankers are permanently stationed at the garbage depot to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
