New Delhi, 3rd April 2023: According to WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is launching a new feature through which users can secure any particular chat with a fingerprint, passcode, or face lock.

With this feature, one can lock the chat using the instant messaging platform’s new privacy function to prevent anyone from accessing it without your consent. The feature is currently in development. It will increase security on WhatsApp by requiring a unique passcode, such as a face lock, password, or fingerprint, to access each locked chat. No one will be able to access the chat unless they know the password, regardless of whether you have a lock on the app or whether WhatsApp is active on your phone.

The function will safeguard shared media files, documents, and audio files in addition to the chat’s text messages. Any media sent in the locked chat will not be immediately saved by the feature.

It’s interesting to note that to open a locked conversation after seven unsuccessful tries, one must first clear the chat. The feature is still being tested and won’t be made accessible to all users until the testing is finished and any bugs have been fixed. It is currently being beta-tested for Android users and will gradually be made available to iOS users.
