Pune: Fire Broke Out In Cocopeat Manufacturing Company In Fursungi; No Casualties Reported
Fursungi, 1st March 2023: In a fire at a cocopeat manufacturing company located in Fursungi under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), goods worth lakhs of rupees have been gutted. The incident took place today around 6 pm. Although there was no loss of life, materials worth lakhs of rupees were damaged.
There is a company manufacturing coconut and other materials near Fursungi – Pandavdand road and Fursungi – Kadamwakwasti border in PMC. Coconut shells are processed in this company to prepare sticks, cocopeat, coconut cases, etc.
Due to the large scale of the fire, the company suffered huge losses. After about 1.5 hours later the fire was brought under control with the help of four fire brigade tankers and a water tanker belonging to local citizens of Kadamwakwasti.
Work started in the company all day on Wednesday. It is speculated that the cocopeat-making machine started to burn due to the rising heat. Due to this, the dried coconuts suddenly caught fire. No casualties were reported in this fire. But the company has suffered huge financial losses.
As soon as the incident came to light, fire brigade vehicles of PMRDA at Wagholi and Hindustan Petroleum Terminal Company at Kadamwakwasti reached the spot. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
