Pune: FIRs Registered Against Actress Ketaki Chitle For Social Media Post About Sharad Pawar

Pune, 14th May 2022: After writing a post about Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on her Facebook account, Marathi actress Ketaki Chitale has found herself in trouble. Police cases are being filed against her in different parts of Maharashtra. She has claimed to have just shared a poem which was written by Adv. Nitin Bhave.
Recently Sharad Pawar was criticised by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) workers for presenting a poem by Jawahar Rathore. It is said that Ketaki too has posted this particular post in a reply to that poem.
Prashant Jagtap (45), president, NCP Pune City lodged a complaint against a Twitter user named ‘बागलाणकर’; a Marathi username and @NitinBhamre8.
According to Jagtap, this account was spreading false rumours and information related to Sharad Pawar on social media. “Pawar had shared a poem in one of his speeches and with the poem, Pawar was not spreading nor harming any religion. Due to anger, the user started spreading rumours and started tweeting and giving away death threats, which is not ethical,” he added further.
Pune Cyber police station has registered an FIR in this regard under IPC sections 153 (A), 500, 501, 505 (2), 506 (2). Inspector Minal Supe Patil is investigating the case further.
Another NCP leader Balasaheb Ganpat Patil (37) has lodged a complaint against Ketaki Chitale with Pune cyber police station. “With her defamatory post against NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, the actress has caused anger among party leaders and the people. The actress not only hurt the workers of NCP but also other citizens who support NCP along with their religious values,” he added further.
On Friday, a case was registered against Chitale at Cyber police station for offences under sections 153 (A), 500, 501, 505 (2) of the IPC. Inspector Minal Supe Patil is investigating the case further.
Swapnil Netke, NCP party office bearer said, “Actress Ketaki Chitale has posted a defamatory post against NCP chief Sharad Pawar which has caused outrage among party leaders, activists and the citizens. Due to such posts, the question of law and order may also arise. Due to the post, the actress has created resentment between the two political parties. We have lodged a complaint with the Kalwa police station regarding the same issue.”
