Pune: First National Level Shivaji Triathlon Held At INS Shivaji In Lonavla

Lonavla, 13th February 2023: The maiden edition of the national-level Shivaji Triathlon was conducted at INS Shivaji, Lonavla on 12th February. The event was designed to test the physical endurance and mental resilience of the athletes and comprised one km open lake swimming, 30 km cycling and 10 km running amidst the roads and trails of Sahyadri mountain ranges.

The event was categorised into individual as well as relay categories and saw the participation of 348 athletes from the services, professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts from the civilian community.

Havaldar Rahul Shinde from the Indian Army and Riddhi Kadam were adjudged as winners in the most competitive individual male and female categories respectively. The team of Bombay Sappers from the Indian Army won the event in the relay category. The award for most spirited athletes were awarded to nine-year-old Urvi and 68-year-old Ashutosh Roy, the youngest and eldest participants of the competition.

The event was presided over by Cmde Mohit Goel, NM, Commanding Officer INS Shivaji.
