Pune: Five Booked For Manufacturer And Sale of Counterfeit Medicines, Inter-state Racket Busted

Wakad 23rd July 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have booked five known and several unidentified people including medicine suppliers, medical shop owners and agencies for allegedly manufacturing and selling counterfeit medicines in the city. The Foods and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials have busted an interstate racket of counterfeit medicines with this case and accused including those from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bihar and Maharashtra have been booked.

 

According to police, the accused were involved in manufacturing Globucel 10, 10gm in 100 ml Solution (Human Normal Immunoglobulin for Intravenous Use I.P 10% Solution), Batch No 97130121 medicine and selling it in the market. The medicine was sold in the market and many patients were duped by the accused, claimed in the complaint. Fake bills were also recovered from their possession, said police.

 

A case in this regard has been registered at Wakad Police Station following a complaint by FDA’s joint commissioner of Pune division against Satish Ramesh Chavan (Shop owner of Wakad), Shrikandar Poojara (Owner of Sagar Medicines Ahmedabad, Gujarat), Lokesh Sukaniya Khandelwal (a resident of Jodhpur, Rajasthan), Aditya Krishna Bhagidar (popular medicine specialist, Bihar), Kamath Drug Agency (Panvel, Maharashtra) and several unknown people along with several organizations under sections 420, 468, 471, 276 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation in the matter is underway.
