Pune: Five Workers Killed In Yerwada Due To Negligence, Finds Fact-Finding Committee  

Pune, 22nd February 2022: A shocking tragedy has resulted in the deaths of five workers at the construction site of Bluegrass Business Park near Shastrinagar chowk in Yerwada on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had formed a technical fact-finding committee under the chairmanship of District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh.

The committee has visited the site and has produced a preliminary report on its findings. The study stated that the disaster was caused by negligence, according to committee member Sudhir Kadam, who spoke at a press conference on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the developer, site engineer, architect, and structural engineer of the project have been given notices to submit their views on the report, which will be heard before the committee on Friday. The committee will then present the final report to the state government.

The findings of the committee are as follows:

The iron mesh for the construction of the basement had collapsed as a result of negligence and no proper equipments were placed at the site.

The nets were constructed without a thorough examination of structural plans.

There was no inspection of the accident raft throughout construction.

There were no safety barriers on the road leading to the construction.

Despite the manpower, there was no planning, concept, or implementation to keep both the upper and lower nets stable.

This includes inspection of the actual site, information obtained with the permission of the Municipal Corporation and approval of the permit, safety measures plan of the accident site, materials used for the work, how the work was done according to rules, site engineer, or other responsible persons.

The incident took place around 10 pm on February 3 on the land of FF Wadia’s Yerwada stud farm adjacent to Wadia bungalow near Shastrinagar chowk on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway. The business park is being constructed on some portion of the farm.
