Pune Health Department Issues Notices To 36 Sonography Centres After Discovering Irregularities

Pune, 22nd February 2022: A total of 570 sonography centres got inspected in the city during a surprise inspection by health department officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). In 36 sonography centres, irregularities were found and notices were issued by the health department of the municipal corporation. Further action will be taken after receiving the replies.

After a case of illegal abortion of a 13-year-old from the Wardha district came to light, the state health department decided to conduct an inspection. The department directed all the districts to inspect the sonography and abortion centres. Accordingly, the inspection was carried out from January 20 to February 20.

There are a total of 632 sonography centres in Pune city. Out of which 570 centres were inspected so far.

Irregularities were found in 36 centres for not submitting monthly reports, mismatch of information, non-signature on the ‘F’ form. A notice has been sent to all those centres.
