Bhor, 19th October 2023: A groundbreaking initiative has been rolled out in the remote areas surrounding Bhatghar Dam in the Bhor taluka of Pune district, as the government inaugurates its floating clinic services. These floating clinics aim to bring essential healthcare to communities cut off from easy access to medical facilities, especially during the rainy season when the service is usually halted.

Starting from October, the government’s health service project will operate in two phases every week, specifically on Wednesdays and Fridays. This initiative targets citizens across 16 different villages who otherwise find it challenging to reach city-based healthcare centers for treatment.

Residents of the Bhatghar Dam area have already expressed their satisfaction with the program, lauding the government’s effort to bring healthcare closer to home. The floating hospitals come staffed with doctors, nurses, and are well-stocked with the necessary medicines, thereby offering a comprehensive range of health services.

The local administration seems committed to ensuring that geographical barriers no longer stand in the way of quality healthcare for its residents. This move is particularly significant in a season where inclement weather often restricts access to essential services.

While the floating clinic service is currently halted during the rainy season, the October re-launch marks a milestone in the government’s ongoing commitment to improve access to healthcare for its rural citizenry. The floating clinics appear to be a much-needed boon for the communities in and around Bhatghar Dam, providing them with timely medical care without the hassle of long-distance travel.
