Pune, 19th August 2025: Authorities have increased the water discharge from Khadakwasla and Panshet dams into the Mutha river basin following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas and a rapid rise in water levels.

According to the Khadakwasla Irrigation Division, the outflow from Khadakwasla Dam spillway was raised from 4,170 cusecs to 7,561 cusecs at 11 am today. Officials cautioned that further adjustments in discharge may be made depending on rainfall and weather conditions.

Similarly, the release from Panshet Dam has been increased. Earlier, 3,996 cusecs were being discharged into the river basin. From 11 am, the outflow has been raised to a total of 6,508 cusecs—5,908 cusecs through the spillway and 600 cusecs via the power generation plant.

Authorities have appealed to residents along the Mutha riverbanks to remain alert and take necessary precautions, as the volume of discharge may be reduced or increased in the coming hours depending on the inflow from catchment areas.
