Pune, 21st September 2021: To avoid traffic congestion at Sinhgad road and Katraj chowk construction of two flyovers was sanctioned. The Bhumipujan of these flyovers will be held on Friday, 24th September through the hands of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, said Mayor Murlidhar Mohol on Monday. Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasane and former MLA Yogesh Tilekar were also present for the conference.
Mohol said, “We had been pursuing the issue of traffic congestion at Katraj Chowk and Katraj-Kondhwa road since 2015. A flyover has been constructed at Katraj, but the problem was still there due to land acquisition problems at the Satara road where the bridge is connected. Meanwhile, it was also tried to connect the Dehuroad-Katraj bypass road directly to Katraj-Kondhwa Road through the state Public Works Department (PWD) and declare it as a national highway. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari gave the status of National Highway to the road which is directly connected to the bypass road. After this, work on Katraj-Kondhwa Six lane road also started. The new flyover will be constructed from Wonder City to Rajas Society Chowk. Therefore, the traffic congestion at Katraj Chowk will be reduced.”
Pune Municipal Corporation has also permitted to construct a bridge pillar in the Katraj zoo’s land, informed Tilekar.
Mohol said, “The flyover on Sinhagad road will save the time of the citizens and will help in reducing traffic congestion.”
