Pune: Football Match Takes Ugly Turn as Players Brawl at Ferguson College Ground
Pune, 2nd April 2023: A football match at the renowned Ferguson College ground turned violent as players engaged in a brawl. Thirteen people, including Arnav Lonkar, Abhishek Singh, and Sarang Donadkar, have been booked by the Pune Police for allegedly assaulting the players of the opposing team.
Virendra Mahendra Pardeshi, a resident of Sahkarnagar in Pune, filed a complaint at the Deccan Police Station, accusing the group of hurling abuses and physically assaulting his team after a dispute over possession of the ball. The semi-final match was underway when the altercation occurred.
According to the complaint, 11 players from the rival team, along with Lonkar, Singh, and Donadkar, kicked and beat up the complainant’s team members.
Assistant Police Inspector S Kamble is leading the investigation.
