Pune, 17th April 2024: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has attracted interest from companies in the USA, Singapore, China and other foreign companies for the Ring Road project they have undertaken. Due to this, the bidding deadline for this project has been extended until April 26. This ambitious project aims to ease traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities by constructing a bypass road. The project involves land acquisition in both eastern and western parts. 90% of the land acquisition for the western route has been completed, while the land acquisition process for the eastern route has been halted due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections.

The proposed bypass road project is expected to have nine segments. For each segment, work will be assigned to three companies. Initially, the bidding process was conducted to assess the eligibility of companies for the first segment of the road project. Now, the bidding process is underway for the direct assignment of work to companies. Several foreign companies have submitted bids for these roads. Due to the participation of foreign companies, the deadline for bidding has been extended until April 26, as informed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

Initially, the bidding period was set from January 17 to March 1. However, due to a lower response during this period, the deadline was extended until March 26. After this extension, some companies submitted bids, while others requested further extension of the deadline. Accordingly, the deadline was extended until April 16. Now, once again, the deadline has been extended until April 26, as communicated by the MSRDC.
