Pune Forest Department Registers Case Against Trio For Hunting Barking Deer in Bhimashankar Sanctuary; One Arrested

Pune, 18th May 2022: A case has been registered against three people by the Forest department for hunting Barking Deer (Bhekar) in Bhimashankar wildlife sanctuary. The case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act. The accused Rama Shantaram Kokare, a resident of Bhimashankar has been arrested by the officials. The officers are searching for his other two acquaintances.

 

 

 

Vasant Chavhan, Range forest officer from Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary said, “In the Bhorgiri area of Bhimashankar Sanctuary, a Barking Deer was hunted by Kokare and his acquaintance and its photos were posted on social media. As soon as the forest rangers and forest workers came to know about this, they arrested Kokare.”
