Pune: PMC Identifies 10 Places To Evacuate Citizens Due To Possible Floods In Rainy Season

Pune, 18th May 2022: In the last three to four years, citizens of Pune experienced a heavy rain fall in the least time. As a result, many areas in the city have suffered due to floods in the monsoon season. Against this background, the district administration has prepared a preliminary plan this year to face the flood-like situation in the city.

 

Accordingly, the administration has identified ten flood-prone places in the city where citizens will have to evacuate a possible flood situation. Apart from this, the district administration has also announced the list of underpasses and bridges in the city which will be affected by rains.

The district administration has prepared a list of which part of the city will be affected after discharging water from the Khadakwasla dam chain project. Accordingly, if the volume of discharged water is 40,000 cusecs, a warning will be issue, and if the level of discharged water reaches 50,000 cusecs, it is necessary to relocate the citizens of the concerned area.

 

Accordingly, Divani Metal Works Erandwana Khilare Vasti, Pulachi Wadi, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) Depot along with the backside of the depot in the Deccan area, Kamgar Putla Shivajinagar, Poona Hospital backside area, Sitabagh Colony and Ashtabhuja Temple, Narayan Peth, Near Amruteshwar Temple, Nene Ghat, Sheikh Salla Dargah, Dengle bridge, Kasba Peth, Barne Road, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Gadital Slum, Tadiwala Road Slum area and Ambil Odha surrounding area have been identified as flood-prone area.

Citizens who lives in the area like Kondhwa-Dhawade, Bheemnagar, Uttamnagar Indirara Vasahat, Shivne canal area, Warje Tapodham, Nanded river area, Wadgaon Budruk Survey. No. 14 and 15, Hingane Khurd Survey No. 18, the area near Alankar Police Chowki, Karvenagar Road, Dattawadi and Rajendranagar.

 

The modern subway, Wakdewadi subway, Harris Bridge and CME, and Duttnagar subway needs to relocate. As the above areas likely to be affected due to heavy rains.

The administration also identified the bridges which will be affected during rains. It includes Khadakwasla dam river bridge, Shivne Nanded bridge, bridge over Ambil stream near Peshwekalin Shiva temple, Parvati village, bridge over Ambil stream near Ambedkar colony Laxminagar, Baba Bhide bridge, Mahabaleshwar Hotel, Ramnadi, a small bridge at Ranwara Chowk, along with the bridges over Mula river which includes a bridge connecting Aundh CQAE, Sutarwadi, the area near Pashan Lake, near Baner Cemetery, Aundh Ghat etc.
