Pune: Four Dead, Five Injured as Company Bus Catches Fire in Hinjawadi IT Park

Hinjawadi, 19th March 2025: A tragic fire incident in Hinjawadi Phase 1 today morning claimed four lives and left five others injured, including two with 40% burns. The fire broke out in a traveller bus near the HIA office around 7:30 AM, according to Kanhaiya Thorat, Senior Police Inspector of Hinjawadi Police Station.

The bus, carrying around 12 to 15 employees of Vyoma Graphics, caught fire due to an engine malfunction. While several managed to escape, four people lost their lives and five sustained injuries. The injured are currently receiving treatment at Ruby Hall Clinic in Hinjawadi.

According to officials, the driver of the bus is among those seriously injured. The employees were not able to open the door of the bus.

Firefighters successfully doused the blaze, but further details regarding the cause of the fire are yet to be confirmed. Attempts to reach officials from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) for additional information were unsuccessful as they did not respond.

“Earlier today, a bus fire incident led to multiple casualties and injuries. Six patients were brought to Ruby Hall Clinic Hinjawadi for emergency medical care. Among them, two individuals have sustained over 40% burns and are in critical condition, one has suffered 20% burns, and another with 5% burns remains unconscious. One patient with minor burns is stable. Tragically, five individuals were declared deceased at the site. Our medical team is providing the highest level of care and intervention to the injured. In such emergencies, immediate and specialized treatment is crucial. We extend our support to the families of the victims and urge everyone to remain vigilant about fire safety measures to prevent such incidents.”
