Pune: Four-member Gang Arrested for Looting Women Labourers; Seized Items Worth Rs 76,000 Recovered

Katraj, 29t July 2023: The Bharti Vidyapeeth police have apprehended a notorious gang of four who targeted women labourers in secluded areas with the promise of work but later looted them.

The incident occurred near the old Katraj tunnel on July 24 at 11 am. The courageous victim filed a complaint at the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station, leading to a prompt response from the law enforcement authorities.

The police wasted no time and swiftly registered an FIR against the unknown culprits under sections 392 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The four accused took the complainant and her colleague to an isolated area beyond the old Katraj tunnel. There, they coerced the women to step out of the vehicle and then robbed them of their gold ornaments, mobile phones, and cash, with a total worth of Rs 76,000.

After an intensive investigation, the police managed to apprehend the culprits, namely Nitin Sahebrao Chavan (30), Santosh Nagorao Kanode (20), Suklla Bajirao Giri (19), and Sunil Narayan Giri (19). All four suspects hail from Warje Malwadi and originally belong to Nanded district.

This commendable action was carried out under the guidance of DCP Smartana Patil, and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar. The dedicated police team, comprising Sr PI Vijay Kumbhar, PI Vijay Puranik, PI Girishkumar Dighavkar, API Amol Rasal, and policemen Shailesh Sathe, Mangesh Pawar, Nilesh Khairmode, Sachin Sarpale, Chetan Gore, Nilesh Dhamdhere, Harshal Shinde, Abhijeet Jadhav, Avdhoot Jamdade, Sachin Gade, Dhanaji Dhotre, Anhinay Chowdhary, Ashish Gaikwad, Rahul Tambe, and Vikram Sawant.
