Pune: Four Women Allegedly Steal 82 Pairs Of Silver Toe Rings From Jewellery Shop in Ranjangaon

Pune, 25th July 2026: Four women allegedly stole 82 pairs of silver toe rings from a jewellery shop in Ranjangaon by posing as customers, with the theft coming to light only after they had left the store. The entire incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV cameras, and police have launched a search for the suspects.

The incident took place at Mahavir Jewellers in Ranjangaon, a temple town in the Pune district. According to police, four women entered the shop around 5.30 pm on July 23 pretending to be customers. They asked to see silver toe rings and spent considerable time examining various jewellery items.

After browsing through the collection, the women left the shop without making any purchase. The shop owner initially did not suspect anything unusual.

Police said another woman was already present inside the shop when the four women arrived. Taking advantage of the rush and distraction while enquiring about the jewellery, the accused allegedly used sleight of hand to steal the ornaments.

A short while later, during a routine inspection of the stock, Verma found that 82 pairs of silver toe rings, which had been kept in a plastic bag, were missing. Suspecting that the women who had visited the shop had stolen the jewellery, he lodged a complaint with the Ranjangaon MIDC police station.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case of theft against four unidentified women. Police constable Amit Chavan is investigating the case, and efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused using CCTV footage recovered from the jewellery shop.

The incident has caused concern among local jewellers and residents in the area.
