Pune: Four Women Rescued From Prostitution Racket At Spa In Nigdi

Pimpri Chinchwad, 18th March 2024: In a significant crackdown on human trafficking and exploitation, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police force took action against pimps engaged in prostitution, rescuing four women who had fallen victim to their criminal activities.
AHTU Police Inspector Devendra Chavan revealed that the unit acted upon confidential information indicating that certain individuals operating under the guise of spa businesses in Pimpri Chinchwad were coercing young women into prostitution for their financial gain, neglecting their health and well-being.
Prompted by this intelligence, police officers and enforcers from the AHTU launched a surprise raid at Phoenix Spa of Inspiria Mall, Nigdi, within the jurisdiction of the Nigdi Police Station. As a result of the operation, four women were rescued from the prostitution racket, and the female suspect, along with the spa manager, was taken into custody. Additionally, Dinesh Kumar Gupta, the 30-year-old owner of the spa and a wanted accused in the case, was also charged in the case.
The accused individuals have been booked for offences under sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. The Nigdi Police Station authorities have assumed responsibility for further investigation into the matter.
The successful operation was conducted under the directives and supervision of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Additional Police Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr Vishal Hire.
The AHTU team, led by Police Inspector Devendra Chavan, included police personnel Maruti Karchude, Bhagwanta Muthe, Ganesh Karote, Vaishnavi Gawde, Reshma Zawre, and Sonali Mane.
