Pune: Fourth shooting incident in the city, gunfire at a hotel.
Pune, 19th April 2024: During a dispute over a money demand at a hotel, gunfire erupted, leading to an incident in the Yerwada area late Thursday night. In this incident, Vicky Raju Chandaliya (residing in Jai Jawan Nagar, Yerwada) sustained injuries and a case has been registered against seven suspects by the Yerwada police. The suspects involved in this incident are Akash Satish Chandaliya, Akshay Satish Chandaliya, Aman Satish Chandaliya, Abhishek Sham Chandaliya (all residing in Range Hills, Pune), Sushant Prakash Kamble (residing in Parnakuti Society, Yerwada), Sandesh Santosh Jadhav and Sanket Taru (both residing in Jai Jawan Nagar, Yerwada). The exact motive behind the shooting is not clear. Initial information suggests that the shooting might have occurred due to personal disputes. Charges have been filed against the suspects under the jurisdiction of both urban and rural police limits in Pune.
According to the information provided by the police, on Thursday night, around 1 AM, several suspects were involved in an altercation at a hotel near Agrasen High School in Yerwada. The hotel manager, Vicky Chandaliya, demanded money from them. When they refused to pay, one of the suspects, Akash Chandaliya, pulled out his pistol and fired two shots in Vicky’s direction. He and his accomplices then assaulted Vicky with sticks. The suspects fled the scene after the shooting. Upon receiving information about the incident, Yerwada police rushed to the spot. The investigation is being led by Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijaykumar Magar, Assistant Commissioner of Police Amol Zhende from the Crime Branch, Assistant Police Commissioner Aarti Bansode and Senior Police Inspector Santosh Patil.
In this incident, some suspects are under suspicion and are being pursued by the police. Previously, residents had complained about the hotel near Agrasen High School. In this area, incidents of robbery and creating terror have occurred before. Due to the presence of hotels, roadside stalls, and other illegal businesses operating until late at night, serious incidents like shootings are happening in the city. The police and administration have been urged to take action. Citizens have also demanded strict action against the unauthorized hotel from both the police and the municipal administration.
