Pune: Fraud Extracts Over Rs 7 Lakh From Senior Woman By Tricking Her
Pune, 11th October 2022: An incident occurred in the Koregaon Park area where a cyber thief stole Rs 7,66,059 from a senior citizen.
The thief had contacted the mobile number of the complainant woman. The thief pretended to be speaking from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Limited (MSEDCL). The thief threatened the senior woman that her electricity will be cut off as the electricity bill was not paid last month.
The thief then asked the woman to download the QuickSupport app. The woman downloaded the relevant app. Through the app, the accused took the confidential information of the woman’s bank account and withdrew the amount from the bank account. After realising that the money was withdrawn from the bank account, the woman lodged a complaint with the police. Senior Police Inspector Deepali Bhujbal is investigating.
