Pune: FTII Files Police Complaint Against Incident Of Vandalism On Campus By Outsiders

Pune, 23rd January 2024: A group of 12-15 individuals forcibly entered the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune campus around 1:30 PM today. Despite efforts by the institute’s security personnel to prevent unauthorized entry, the group aggressively proceeded to destroy banners and boards set up by students, FTII stated in a press release.

“The local police, Deccan police station, were promptly summoned, but before the situation could be brought under control, a few individuals from the group launched an attack on students present in the vicinity. Upon police intervention, the outsiders were removed from the institute premises. Injured students received immediate medical attention, escorted to the hospital under police security. The institute filed a formal complaint through its Security Officer to document the incident”, the release states.

Responding to the incident, the local police, at the institute’s request, has intensified security measures, stationing a unit outside the premises to address any potential security concerns. The FTII administration has taken a serious stance on the matter and is initiating appropriate actions in response to the incident, the release concluded.
