Pune, 23th January 2024: A massive Maratha reservation march, spearheaded by Manoj Jarange Patil, is scheduled to make its presence felt in Pune city on Wednesday morning. Commencing from Wagholi at 8 AM, the march will wind its way through various key locations, causing potential traffic disruptions along the route.

The planned route includes Wagholi, Chokhi Dhani, Kharadi Zakat Naka, Ahmednagar Road via Kharadi Bypass, Chandan Nagar, Viman Nagar, Hyatt Hotel, Yerwada, Shastrinagar Chowk, Gunjan Chowk, Shivajinagar via Bundgarden, Sancheti Chowk, Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk, Sangvi Phata via Aundh. However, there is a possibility of a sudden route change from Yerwada, redirecting the march through Khadki and Dapodi to Sangvi.

Jarange Patil is advocating for Maratha community reservation status under the OBC category. Despite issuing two ultimatums to the government, no concrete decision has been reached, prompting thousands of Maratha community members to embark on a long-distance foot march to Mumbai under Jarange Patil’s leadership for a protest fast.

The padayatra (foot march), set to commence on Wednesday morning after a night’s stay at Chokhi Dhani in Wagholi, is estimated to take approximately five to six hours to cover the designated route on foot. As the march progresses towards Sangvi, it will later head to Lonavala via Pimpri Chinchwad, Dehu Road, and Talegaon. A meeting led by Jarange Patil is scheduled in Lonavla at night.

Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police anticipates potential traffic congestion due to the march, urging residents to plan accordingly and consider alternative routes to avoid disruptions.
