Pimpri Chinchwad, 8th February 2025: A 25-year-old man, Rupesh Ram Bahirwade, who had been absconding in a molestation case, attempted suicide inside a police post after surrendering to the authorities. The incident occurred on Thursday (6th) around 11 PM at the Mohan Nagar Police Chowky in Chinchwad.

Bahirwade had been missing for two months following the registration of a molestation case against him. His family had filed a missing person report, unaware of his whereabouts. However, as police intensified their search, he voluntarily appeared at the police post and questioned officers about why they were looking for him. In a shocking turn of events, he consumed a cleaning chemical in an attempt to end his life.

Police immediately rushed him to a private hospital for treatment before handing him over to his family. Yesterday, Police Constable Dattatray Nikam filed a complaint at the Pimpri Police Station, leading to a case being registered against Bahirwade for attempted suicide.

According to police sources, Bahirwade had remained active on social media despite being on the run, causing distress to the molestation case complainant and her family. Repeated demands for his arrest prompted the police to intensify their search, ultimately leading to his surrender and subsequent suicide attempt.
