Notorious Vehicle Thief Arrested in Pune, 11 Stolen Motorcycles Seized

Pune, 8th February 2025: Pune Rural Police have cracked a series of vehicle theft cases in the district with the arrest of a notorious history-sheeter, leading to the recovery of 11 stolen motorcycles worth ₹6.60 lakh. The operation was carried out jointly by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Shirur Police Station.
During the investigation of a theft case registered at Shirur Police Station, Police Constables Vijay Shinde and Nitesh Thorat received intelligence from a trusted source identifying Santosh alias Sharad Gajanana Ingole, a resident of Washim, as the suspect. Upon detaining him and conducting a thorough inquiry, police recovered 11 motorcycles, including nine Hero Splendors, one Hero Passion Pro, and one Honda Shine.
Ingole’s arrest led to the resolution of 11 theft cases—one each at Shirur, Dhad, Chakan, MIDC Bhosari, Lonikand, Khadki, Mahalunge MIDC, and Dighi Police Stations, along with two at Alandi Police Station. Additionally, he has a criminal record in multiple districts, including Washim, Akola, Jalgaon, and Buldhana, all related to vehicle theft, solidifying his reputation as a habitual offender.
Following his arrest, he was produced in court and remanded to police custody. The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior police officials, including Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh. The investigative teams were led by Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar (in charge of LCB) and Police Inspector Sandesh Kenjle (in charge of Shirur Police Station).
