Pune: Gang Vandalises 17 Vehicles Off Senapati Bapat Road, Police Clueless About Goons

Pune, 7th May 2022: A group of four to five men armed with choppers and other weapons, demolished 12 cars, 3 two-wheelers, an autorickshaw and a three-wheeler tempo early in the morning in front of a private hospital off the Senapati Bapat (SB) Road on Friday.

Senior Inspector Rajkumar Waghchavare from Chatushrungi Police said, ” The motive behind the vandalism is being ascertained. We are going through CCTV footage for clues for arresting the culprits, who were moving around in a car.”

The ruckus started early in the morning around 2:50 am. The gang reached the area and started destroying vehicles parked along the road and in front of the private hospital.

Vilas Dakale, driver of the SUV was sleeping inside the care but he woke up due to a loud thud.

He said, ” I was shocked to see the broken windscreen of my SUV. I had a narrow escape, as a cement block fell next to me inside the car.”

“When a person saw me, he started abusing me. He demanded money from me. When I told him I do not have money, he smashed the window glass of the door and also the rear. He then ran towards a car and drove away. Fortunately, he did not harm me,” he said further.

An official from the private hospital said, “Hearing sounds of the ruckus, our guard stepped out but the men threatened him with sharp weapons. I experienced something like this for the first time.”

Later on, the gang went to Anand Yashoda Housing Colony, on the other side of SB road. There, they destroyed seven cars and a two-wheeler.

The car then drove towards Wadarwadi and damaged a three wheeler.

Senior Inspector Waghchavare said, ” We have fanned out teams to nab the men. The prove revealed that there were around four to five men. The motive behind the incident can only be ascertained after the arrest.”
