Pune: Gang Vandalizes 70 Vehicles in Bibwewadi; Three Arrested

Bibwewadi, 5th February 2025: In a shocking act of vandalism, a gang smashed the windows of 70 vehicles in the Upper Indiranagar area of Bibwewadi around midnight on Wednesday. The incident, which followed a pistol firing case two days earlier, created panic among residents. The police have arrested three accused.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Andi alias Niranjan Devkar, Abhishek Pandhare, and Ganraj Sunil Thakar. Devkar, who had fled the scene, was tracked down and arrested in Velhe. After the large-scale destruction of vehicles came to light, senior police officers rushed to the spot and ordered the immediate arrest of the accused.

Acting under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Nikhil Pingle, a team led by Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar, along with Police Constables Surendra Jagdale and Pawan Bhosale from the Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Squad 2, arrested Devkar in Velhe. Meanwhile, a team from Bibwewadi police nabbed Pandhare and Thakar. The operation was conducted by Sub-Inspector Ashok Yewle and his team.

According to the police, a month ago, Devkar, Pandhare, and Thakar had an altercation with a local individual and were beaten up. Seeking revenge, the trio arrived at Upper Indiranagar armed with sticks and weapons around midnight on Wednesday. They went on a rampage, smashing cars, tempos, rickshaws, and two-wheelers parked near Durga Mata Temple.

The loud noise of breaking glass woke up residents, who shouted for help. The gang hurled abuses before fleeing the scene, leaving the neighborhood in fear.
