Pune: Ganja Worth Over Rs 1 Crore Seized From Car With Maharashtra Govt Written On It, Three Arrested

Pune 2nd Sept 2023: The Anti Narcotics Cell of Pune City Police has arrested three people from Loni Kand area in the city and Ganja worth over Rs 1 Crore has been seized from their possession. The accused were transporting the ganja from Andhra Pradesh and they were using a car having Maharashtra government written on it to avoid being intercepted during their travel.

According to police, the Anti Narcotics Cell officials had received information about a suspected car coming to Pune from Andhra Pradesh with ganja in it. Accordingly, the police team laid a trap and the accused identified as Sandip Balaji Sontakke (29), Nirmala Koteshwari Murthy Junnari (36) and Mahesh Tulshiram Parit (29) were apprehended. Police found a total of 520 Kg and 550 gram of Ganja worth Rs1,19,82,200 in their possession.

A case in this regard has been registered at Loni Kand Police Station under relevant sections. According to police the accused were using Maharashtra Government’s name plate on their vehicles to avoid being intercepted during their travel between Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Two of the arrested accused are residents of Maharashtra while one is from Andhra Pradesh. Further investigation in the case is underway.
