Pune: Man Posing As Mathadi Leader Arrested For Demanding Extortion, Case Registered

Pune 2nd Sept 2023: The Anti Extortion Cell of Pune City Police has arrested a man for demanding extortion from a company employee for carrying out work in Yerawada. The accused identified as Vicky Narayan Aurange, a resident of Yerawada was nabbed by police while accepting extortion money from the complainant.

According to police, the complainant was setting up an office for his company at a corporate building in Yerawada. The accused allegedly entered the office premises and demanded Rs 1.20 Lakh to let them continue their work and threatened to kill him for not paying the amount. He allegedly did not allow him to take the material needed to carry out work for the office. After a discussion, the accused agreed to accept Rs 80,000 from the complainant and asked him to meet at a secluded place to pay money.

The police team after receiving the complaint laid a trap and the accused was nabbed while accepting the extortion money. A case in this regard has been registered against Vikcy Aurange under sections 386, 387 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Yerawada Police Station. The police have launched an investigation in the matter.

The Pune City police have appealed to the people to not pay extortion to such people pretending to be Mathadi leaders and they have urged the citizens to approach the Anti Extortion Cell of the city police to lodge complaint in such matters.
