Pune: Gas Supply Disruption in Yeolewadi Affects 400 Consumers
Kondhwa, 9th October 2023: Around 400 consumers in the Yeolewadi Katraj area of Pune have been left without natural gas supply. The Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) issued an urgent statement today, revealing that this unfortunate disruption is the result of excavation work conducted by a third-party entity.
The MNGL disclosed that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been actively involved in drainage work within the vicinity. However, this excavation work has inadvertently led to damage to the gas pipeline, causing a sudden and unexpected cessation of gas supply to the affected consumers. The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 PM, leaving residents and businesses inconvenienced.
In response to the situation, the MNGL has swiftly dispatched an emergency response team to the site of the incident. Their primary mission is to assess the extent of the damage and initiate immediate repairs to the gas pipeline. The MNGL has assured affected customers that every effort is being made to expedite the restoration of gas supply. Current estimates indicate that normal gas service is expected to resume within the next 2 to 3 hours.
Customers in the affected area received a notification message, which read: “Dear Customers, Gas pipeline damaged today near Yeolewadi Katraj at 3:15 PM due to excavation by a third party (PMC drainage work). Emergency team is on site for repairs. Gas supply restoration expected in approximately 2-3 hours.”
