Pune, 19th November 2021: GOG FCC rode on the hat-trick by Kartik Raju while Giantz rallied to get past their opponent to enter the semis in the inaugural City Cup 2021 knockout tournament at the City Sports Arena, Moshi-Pune, on Friday.

The tournament is being organized by City F.C Pune under the aegis of the Poona District Football Association (PDFA).

In the second quarter-final of the day, GOG FCC eased past Dynamites S.C 4-0 in a one-sided match. An early strike by Kartik Raju (8th) gave GOG F.C.C the early advantage. After the break, Kartik (48th) added to his and the team’s tally, making it 2-0. A 55th-minute goal by Rahul Pardeshi made it 3-0 and in the 59th minute, Kartik completed his hat-trick, making it 4-0 for GOG F.C.C.

Earlier, Giantz rallied from behind to upset Gunners 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.

A 2nd minute Azim Mulla goal gave Gunners an early lead. Eight minutes later Azim (10th) increased the advantage making it (2-0). Giantz grabbed one back via Anshul Sharma (30th) to make it (2-1) heading into the break.

After the breather, early into the second half, a fast brace in a space of 3 minutes by Smitesh Pawar (43rd, 46th) placed Giantz in the lead, which they held on too, to take the game away from the Gunners.

In the first semi-final, KP XI face Snigmay F.C at 2.00 pm, and in the second semi-final, Giantz face GOG FCC at 3.45 pm on 20th November 2021.
