Pune: Good Rain In Catchment Areas, Water Discharge From Panshet And Warasgaon Dams Increased

Pune 21st Sept 2023: The catchment areas of the district have received a good rainfall in the last few hours due to which the water levels at the dams that supply water to Pune city have increased, As a result, the irrigation department has increased discharge from the dams into the river.

According to officials. Panshet Dam has been filled upto 100% of the capacity (10.65 TMC) and the water discharge from the dam and the power generation center has been increased from 600 Cusecs to 1,283 Cusecs at 7 pm. The officials have also said that further increase or reduction in the discharge will be decided based on the rainfall reported in the catchment area.

Similarly, the water level at the Warasgaon Dam has also reached 100% of its capacity (21.82 TMC) and the discharge from the power generation center at the dam was increased from 600 Cusecs to 1,197 Cusecs.

The accumulative storage in the four dams of the Khadakwasla cluster including Panshet, Warasgaon, Khadakwasla and Temghar has reached 94.02% (27.41 TMC) compared to 100% (29.15 TMC) reported on the same day last year. The IMD had issued a yellow alert for the district for today and ”thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph at one or two places’ was predicted.
