Pune 4th Oct 2023: The Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat officials have demanded action against city industrialist Puneet Balan for putting up illegal advertisements across the city during the ganesh festival. The grahak Panchayat members have demanded to impose a fine of Rs 100 Crore against Balan.
A letter in this regard has been written to the Pune Municipal Commissioner. “We appreciate the municipal corporation’s action against Puneet Balan of imposing a fine of Rs 3.2 Crore for illegal advertisements during Dahi Handi festival. We also want to bring this to notice that the illegal advertisements of Puneet Balan and Oxyrich group were ten times higher than Dahi Handi during the Ganesh festival. Same was repeated during every festival in the past and the city was defaced by these illegal advertisements” the letter stated.
“It is requested that a fine of Rs 100 Crore be imposed against Puneet Balan for defacing the city with such advertisements repeatedly and the brands for which these illegal advertisements were put up should be banned to carry out business in the city” the letter further stated.
It may be noted that the Pune Municipal Corporation has recently imposed a fine of Rs 3.2 Crore against industrialist Puneet Balan for defacing the city by installing illegal advertisements during the Dahi Handi festival between September 9 and September 17. The civic body in its notice has mentioned that the citizens are needed to pay an amount to the municipal corporation for such advertisements by taking legal permission except those put up during the Ganesh festival. The fine was imposed as per Rs 40 per square feet for a total of 80,000 square feet advertisements put up during the Dahi Handi festival.
