Pune: Grandson Allegedly Kills 75-Year-Old Maternal Grandmother in Chikhali, Accused’s Father Lodges FIR Against Son

Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th September 2026: A 75-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her maternal grandson, who hit her on the head with a steel tumbler after she woke him up from sleep and allegedly kept talking at home, police said.

The incident took place on Thursday morning (September 17) at a MHADA building under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chikhali.

The deceased was identified as Maya Laxman Ahiwale (75). According to Dighi police, her son-in-law Sainath Nagnath Thorat (50), a resident of Chikhali, lodged a complaint following which a case was registered against his 25-year-old son, Swapnil Sainath Thorat.

According to the complaint, Ahiwale allegedly woke Swapnil from sleep while repeatedly talking and also complained that he had made the house dirty. Angered by this, Swapnil allegedly hit his grandmother on the head with a steel tumbler and then banged her against the floor.

She sustained serious injuries and died on the spot, police said
