Market Yard, 4th January 2026: Prices of green chillies and Totapuri mangoes increased at Pune’s wholesale fruit and vegetable market in Gultekdi on Sunday due to a drop in supply, while rates of most other fruits and vegetables remained stable, traders said.

Around 100 trucks carrying fruits and vegetables arrived at the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Market Yard from within Maharashtra and other states. Senior commission agent Vilas Bhujbal said limited arrivals of green chillies and Totapuri mangoes pushed up prices in the wholesale market.

According to traders, supplies from other states included 14 to 15 tempos of green chillies from Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, 11 to 12 tempos of carrots from Rajasthan, four to five tempos of cabbage from Karnataka, and three tempos of drumsticks from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. About 200 plastic crates of Totapuri mangoes arrived from Tamil Nadu. Other arrivals included two to three tempos of French beans from Karnataka, two tempos of groundnut pods, two to three tempos of broad beans, 35 to 36 tempos of peas from Madhya Pradesh and 14 to 15 tempos of garlic from Madhya Pradesh.

From the Pune division, arrivals included 700 to 750 sacks of ginger from Satara, five to seven tempos of okra, three to four tempos of cluster beans, 7,000 to 8,000 crates of tomatoes, four to five tempos of green chillies, seven to eight tempos of cucumbers, 10 to 12 tempos of cauliflower, three to four tempos of carrots, six to seven tempos of cabbage, four tempos of French beans, two to three tempos of broad beans, 10 to 12 tempos of bell peppers, and 10 to 12 tempos each of red pumpkin. A combined total of around 200 tempos of new and old onions also arrived. In addition, 50 to 55 tempos of potatoes were supplied from Indore, Agra and nearby local areas.

Traders said prices of leafy vegetables such as coriander, spring onions and safflower leaves declined due to increased arrivals. On Sunday, around 1.5 lakh bunches of coriander and nearly 80,000 bunches of fenugreek were received at the market. Arrivals of chickpea greens were estimated at 30,000 to 35,000 bundles.

While rates of mint and sorrel showed a slight increase, prices of most other leafy vegetables remained steady, traders added.
