Pune: Gunners, KP XI, GOG FCC Advance In City Cup 2021 Knock-Out Tournament

Pune, November: First Division side Gunners had a field day downing Super Division team Parshuramians F.C, while Game of Goal FCC and KP XI advanced into the next round of the inaugural City Cup 2021 knock-out tournament at the City Sports Arena, Moshi-Pune, on Tuesday.

The tournament is being organised by City F.C Pune under the aegis of the Poona District Football Association (PDFA).

Gunners led by a second-half brace by Jayant Nimbalkar downed Parshuramians F.C 5-2. The match began with Parshuramians F.C netting first through Samson Joseph (10th), however, Gunners brought the game on level through Harshal Walvekar (21st).

Azim Mulla (26th) made it 2-1 for Gunners, Alan Raghvendra (30th) added another to make it 3-1 and just when half-time approached Parshuramians pulled one back through Yasir Khan (35th) to take the score to 3-2.

In the second half, Jayant’s double effort helped Gunners swell their tally.

KP XI dashed the hopes of hosts City F.C Pune 2-0 with a goal in each half. Edvin Falero (20th) netted in the first half and later Alfred Negal (49th) scored in the second half.

In the third match of the day, Game of Goal (GOG) FCC downed Pimpri-side Rahul FC 3-1. Striker Prakash Thorat (15th) scored the opener for the winners and later a double strike by Kartik Raju (45th) and (52nd) helped increase the tally. For Rahul F.C, Naim Sayyed (48th) pulled one back.
