Pune Police Arrest 5 Cyber Thieves Who Cheated Using Forged Google Pay Receipt

Pune, 16th November 2021: The Pune City ​​Police has busted a gang of cyber thieves from Rajasthan who used to dupe entrepreneurs by asking them to refund ‘excess money’ wrongly deposited in their account.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ranglal Jagdish Narayan Meena, Ram Lalaram Meena, Anilkumar Ramavatar Meena, Harbhajan Dungaram Meena, Mohankumar Ramjilal, all residents of Rajasthan.

According to police, the complainant provides online training for Rajasthani folk arts. One of the accused had enquired about various courses and fees on Instagram. After some time, the accused sent a screenshot stating that he had wrongly deposited Rs 18000 instead of Rs 1800 for the course fee and demanded a refund of Rs 16,200. Without checking the statement, she refunded the amount only to realise later that the accused had not transferred Rs 18,000 in her account.

She lodged complaints with Pune and Delhi police. The Delhi police detained the accused persons from Rajasthan. A team from Pune went to Delhi brought the accused here after getting their transit remand.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokale, Deputy Commissioner of Police (EOW& Cyber Crime) Bhagyashree Navatke and ACP Vijaykumar Palsule.

The team included Senior Police Inspector DS Hake, Inspector Ankush Chintaman, API Deshmukh, Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gawari and police personnel Rajkumar Jaba, Handal, Nagtilak, Pundalik and Landge.
