Pune: Gutkha Worth Rs 55 Lakh Seized In Khed Shivapur

Khed, 3rd April 2023: In the early hours of Sunday (April 2), Gutkha worth around Rs 55.62 lakh was seized from two godowns in Sriram Nagar Bandewadi area and Shindewadi area in raids conducted by the Rajgad police.

According to the information received, in a joint operation of the Rajgad Police and the Local Crime Investigation Department, Pune, some bags and boxes filled with Gutkha, Pan Masala, banned by the government, were found in a Godown in Sriram Nagar limits. At the same time, an inquiry was made regarding the shopkeeper.

Information has come to light that similar goods have been hidden in a patra shed within the village limits of the concerned shopkeeper, Shindewadi Taluka, Bhor. A raid was conducted by the police at that place as well. Boxes containing banned substances such as masala, gutkha, aromatic masala, etc, worth Rs 55,62,912 were found.

The relevant material was confiscated after conducting a survey. Ramesh Choudhary, a resident of Sriram Nagar, Taluka Haveli has been arrested in this case.

Under the leadership of Rajgad Police Inspector Sachin Patil, Senior Officer of Local Crime Investigation Branch Avinash Shilimkar, a team of Assistant Police Inspector Manoj Kumar Navsare, Santosh Todkar, Rahul Kolhe, Mahadev Shelar, Sagar Gaikwad, Ajit Bhujbal carried out the said operation.

Further investigation of the case is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Manoj Kumar Navsare.
