New Delhi, 2nd April 2023: To provide teachers with in-service training, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has created 16 Centers of Excellence (COEs) across the nation. The facilities are anticipated to support teachers’ continuous professional development (CPD).

According to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, each school must make sure that each instructor completes a minimum of 50 hours of CPD.

The CBSE bylaws mandate that teachers participate in at least 25 hours of annual training programs run by the Board. The remaining hours must be completed through other means arranged by the various state and union territory education departments.

According to a CBSE statement, “COEs offer training in two different categories: general and specialized. There are 22 general courses covering topics like the Adolescent Education Program, Art Integration, Inclusive Education, Happy Classrooms, Cyber Safety and Security, and more, while 23 training courses are aligned with classes X and XII disciplines.”

The board must provide teachers in these schools with specific training to help them through this transition as more public and private partnership (PPP) schools become affiliated with CBSE.
