Pune has only 111 ‘proper’ beauty parlours, salons, spas
Pune, November 24, 2019: People nowadays are very conscious about their look. Enhancing one’s beauty with various parlour treatments is always top of the to-do list. But is your parlour safe? Is your parlour following health and hygiene norms and giving you a healthy treatment?
According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) health department, around 1500 parlours in the city do not have a health license from the civic agency. They may not be following health and hygiene norms, hence the department issued notices to those parlours. The notices have been issued to many popular names like Javed Habib’s hair express, Apple, Lakme etc.
There are around 1691 beauty parlours in the city and out of these only 111 parlours have health license of the PMC’s health department. Many of them don’t even know about the requirement of this licence. It is necessary for every parlour owner to get this license from the health department. The owners of the parlours have been asked to get this licence. The PMC is expecting to earn revenue of Rs 3.9 crores from the beauty parlours/salon/spas.
According to an expert, the use of skin creams, machines in various parlours treatment may harm people. Some may cause serious or long term injuries for health. Therefore it is necessary to follow health and hygiene norms in every parlour. It is also necessary to dispose of the waste properly. Unfortunately, many parlours do not follow those norms which become harmful for us.”
